Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Where can I start? I came here twice in just three days, and when I think back on Sardinia, this restaurant is one of the first things that comes to mind. We loved that it’s located on a parallel street to the main area — it felt more authentic and real, far from any tourist trap. Cristian and the team were fantastic, recommending dishes and checking in on us throughout the meal. Both my husband and I agreed this was some of the best food we have ever had. The linguine alle vongole with bottarga was bursting with flavor, and the pluma Ibérica was simply out of this world. We will absolutely be back. Thank you, Cristian — from your Danish friends :)"
"Great authentic Sardinian food and nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We had an amazing night."
"Hands down one of the best restaurants I‘ve ever been to! The food is fresh and delicious, the service is excellent and the wine tasty. You’ll feel welcome, warm, happy and just at the right place at the right time! If possible make a reservation, because everyone wants to try Alghero’s best restaurant! ;)"
"Really good restaurant for lunch! We found upon this place and was perfect. Impressive food, impressive starter and main. For we chose the roasted pig. Was so impressive. Portions were great and attention was quick and on the spot. Fully recommended place in Alghero for trying seafood and meat!"
"This was the perfect dinner to finish off our long weekend trip to Alghero! We had been recommended to come here by our boat captain and guide couple who we had met earlier in the morning when we took their boat tour. I asked them what their favourite restaurant in Alghero was, and without hesitation they replied “Marco Polo”. We had done some extensive research before our visit so we were somewhat surprised to have a restaurant suggested to us that none of us had heard about, but we put our trust in the skipper and we were so thankful that we did. The restaurant is charming and authentic, with no other English speaking guests (we visited in June) and a welcoming staff despite the fact it was more of a local place The food was the best we had in the 4 days we were there, only the freshest seafood, all pasta homemade, just like the skipper had told us. For dessert, we enjoyed an amazing homemade Myrto, a local digestive made from a variety of blackberries only found in Sardinia. Everything on the menus is amazing, you cannot go wrong, but we particularly enjoyed the pasta, the Alghero octopus, the swordfish ceviche, and the tuna tataki. The prices were extremely affordable, the food was fresh and delicious, and the service was warm and welcoming. I cannot recommend this restaurant more!"
"I had a very nice experience, best lobster spaghetti ever. The waitresses were really nice which is rare in Alghero. I'd come back anytime"
"The food is amazing. We went back for a second time. Service can be a bit slow during peak hours (8-10pm) however they were very friendly and offered us antipasti for free because of the long waiting time for our main dish. The place itself is a traditional Italian trattoria with exposed brick walls and arches. There is also air conditioning which was nice in the heat."
"It felt like the staff love hospitality and food. Very good service and the food represented Alghero and its Catalan heritage."
